ADHD PRESCRIPTION REFILL POLICY
Parents and/ or Caregivers,
Effective June 1, 2016, our policy when requesting prescription refills for stimulant medications used in the treatment of ADHD is as follows:
We ask that refill requests for these medications be made at least 24 hours prior to the anticipated time of pick-up. These prescriptions should always be signed by the prescribing doctor, so it is important that we have enough notice to get the appropriate signature. Refill requests made on Saturday will be ready for pick up on Monday afternoon. It is also important that any dosage changes be discussed with the physician prior to medication pick-up. When picking up these prescriptions, we ask that you check to make sure you have the correct prescription. If at the time of pick-up you notice that the prescription is incorrect, please notify the front desk, so that the correct prescription can be written.
It is also required by the physicians of this practice that the patient be seen a minimum of twice yearly, both for an annual checkup and a medication recheck evaluation. These appointments are important because they allow the doctor to monitor how the medication is affecting the patient's behavior/mood, appetite, weight, height, sleep, blood pressure, and heart rate. The doctor may ask for additional rechecks if the medication is adjusted. Prescriptions will be held if these appointments are not kept.
